About the client

To protect the privacy of our clients we can't always share the details of projects and services provided. We would sometimes share anonymous stories of our projects to show you what's possible in the data and AI world today.

Our client has a fully running Data Warehouse in BigQuery - people from various teams, and especially the company's technical team, needed to be able to quickly verify whether the data inside is up to date and ready to use. Ideally, they needed to have that information without the need to check multiple places and tables individually.

With a Data Warehouse Health Dashboard (created in Looker Studio for their BigQuery warehouse), our client has easy access to the status of last data integrations and is able to quickly spot any potential problems though colour alerts.

Our solution

To provide our client with quick access to the status of health of their data warehouse in BigQuery, we have created a Looker dashboard, that automatically updates and shows the last refresh date and time for each of the tables in the warehouse, and the number of days since last refresh. The dashboard is also colour-programmed, so in the event of integration delays, they can be easily spotted.

Results

Our client's employees across different teams can now easily check the last date their data was implemented into the warehouse and quickly make sure they are making decisions based on the latest available insights. With just one glance they are able to verify if data in the warehouse is fresh and up to date and, if needed, start troubleshooting procedures early.
